Campus News

Welcome back! We hope you’ve had a restful and wonderful break from school the last few weeks. We started off this new year trying to finish out the school semester. I know you have lots to wrap up before next week. Be sure you communicate with parents/students to turn in all make-up and missing assignments before the end of next week.

Just a Reminder...
We are our January Staff Meeting this Monday after school. We will be going over testing procedures for our students.

Benchmark Testing
Our 3rd and 4th Grade students will be participating in benchmark testing (or Mock STAAR) testing later this month and beginning of next month:
  • 4th Grade Writing - Wednesday, January 29 & Thursday, January 30
  • 3rd & 4th Grades Math - Monday, February 3
  • 3rd & 4th Grades Reading - Tuesday, February 4
Our campus will be closed to outside visitors during this time. We will be using these test scores to help focus your classroom instruction for the rest of year. Please be sure to let parents know the dates for the testing.

Reading/Math Programs
3rd and 4th Grade parents will be also be receiving information about a Reading and Math programs students can use to help support their learning at home. The Reading program is called iStation and the Math program is called Think Through Math. Both programs are free for our students to use and be accessed at home. Teachers also have the ability to view student progress from their computers. Students will have the opportunity to work towards incentives for the rest of the school year.

Also, we are purchasing the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade version to iStation for our students to use during intervention. More information about these programs will be coming later this month.

Early Release/Curriculum Planning
Just a reminder, we have a early release on Thursday, January 16 @ 12:30pm. We will not have specials on this day and Dr. Bright had developed a schedule for this day (click on the link). After dismissal, we will meet again at Fort Elementary for our curriculum planning time. Be sure to bring your curriculum notebooks for this time. The Curriculum team will be sharing information for the new semester.

Teacher Workday & HumanX
Reminder the survey our staff took before Christmas break? I will be getting the report earlier that week from Mr. Worthy and the company. However during the teacher workday, the HumanX staff will come and visit with you about your responses to the survey. Afterward, the HumanX staff will be helping you develop a plan to improve our campus. Dr. Bright and I will not be present with you during this meeting so you can work with the HumanX staff openly. The HumanX staff come and visit our campus staff from 10:50-12:05 in the library. All staff members, please make plans to be present.
