ENews 08.14.2015

Hello Scott Family! So it's been great catching up with so many folks the last several days. We've been to Revolutionize Learning, On the Border, New Teacher Training, Team Leader Meeting, and soon the whole staff with be together again... I'm very excited to start a new school year!

Below are some updates to our schedule for next week. Please take the time to review them so you know what to expect.

Staff Development Week Schedule

Here's our updated week for next week (click on the link below).

Take note of the following changes:
  • Teacher Workday is Tuesday and NOT Thursday
  • Martha and I are meeting with all hourly staff members on Tuesday afternoon to discuss payroll updates & time sheets
  • Student Health update will be Thursday after the convocation
  • The location for K-2 teachers meeting has been moved to Royse City High School
Our staff picture will be @ 10:00am on Monday morning. Let's wear professional dress for staff pictures, but you will have time to change clothes to something more comfortable afterwards.

I'm looking forward to our convocation this year... I love Angela's message about Mattering and how this can change how we relate to others. I'm so thrilled she's coming to our district! Afterwards, some of our teachers will have the chance to meet her, have lunch, and visit with her about using #YouMatter principles in the classroom with students.

Back to School Principal Newsletter

Finally I've created a digital newsletter for all our Back-to-School information for parents & students. Please share the link to this newsletter via our social media and Remind accounts.

Energy Update

Thank you all for your efforts over the past few years in adhering to the district "Energy Management procedures". Your efforts have truly made a difference for our district! For the new school year the district has added a few more additions to our procedures moving forward:
  1. Refrigerators and microwaves will no longer be allowed in the individual classrooms. The only exception will be if there is a specific medical need and we will approve any issues of that nature through our office. Additionally, floor lamps, desk lamps, Scentsy's, plug-ins, fans, space heaters, etc. will no longer be allowed in classrooms.
  2. Classroom doors are to be kept closed at all times.
  3. Exterior doors must NOT be propped open at any time. This includes before school, during the school day, and after school.
All of these changes will either help the district realize significant energy savings, make the learning environment in the classroom more comfortable or both.

Copier Update

On Tuesday, our campus will be receiving new copiers in each pod. This copier update is less expensive for our district and we're excited about some of the features. Teachers will also receive a 4-digit code they will be able to use to print their copies. Dr. Bright has been issuing folks new ID badges that will act as a key to the building. Once everything is setup, these ID badges will allow teachers to print without their 4-digit code. The front copier will have the ability to print in color where Team Leaders will given the ability to use this feature.
