    NEW Information

Vote for Teacher of the Month
We have a lot of hard working individuals on this campus who truly deserves an award everyday. So let's acknowledge each other's excellent work and dedication to education by honoring them through Teacher of the Month.
The Teacher of the Month is a monthly award that recognizes a teacher who exemplifies excellence in education. The Teacher of the Month will be given a parking space in the staff parking lot for that month and a special treat.

Red Ribbon Week - Be sure to encourage your students to participate in Red Ribbon Week... click here for a current schedule. If you choose to participate in the different dress up days, please be sure to wear jeans too!

Spooky Pot Luck - This potluck is scheduled for Wednesday and it's looking very good! Thank you so much Martha for organizing this event for our staff and thank you everyone that has signed up to bring some "Spooky" treats. I can't wait to see that you guys have in mind. Click on the link below to check out the sign up list:

Testing Updates - Last week I emailed some testing updates from Lead4ward. They created a quick document about the resent changes to the testing system for this coming Spring. As more information becomes available, the iAct Team will help keep us informed. Below, I've included a link to this document and highlighted sections I believe is helpful for our students/campus:

Discovery Ed passcodes have been emailed to team leaders. Be sure to visit with them about access.

Subs & Technology - I would like you know what you guys think about having subs in the building with technology. What do you do when you have a sub in your classroom and you have the laptop with you at a training or home? The subs can't even use the document camera without the laptop, so what is the solution to this issue? Please let me know with this document and we can develop a procedure the district/campus.

Brightbytes - Zach Snow (@ZachSnow) will be sending out the links for the Brightbytes survey very soon. I would like to see 100% of our campus to complete this survey. Mr. Snow will be monitoring the completion and offering some incentive for the FIRST campus to complete the survey in the district. I want to be #1!!

Grant Submission Timeline - Also, Jo Nell will be sending out a survey to all the staff about the timelines for Education Foundation Grant submissions. Basically, she would like to know if the Fall submission date is best of our district OR do we need a Spring submission date too. Be prepared to give her your feedback soon and visit with me if you have specific questions about the Ed Foundation Timeline.

    Digital Citizenship Week
Below is the email Stuart Burt (@StuartBurt) shared with us this week about Digital Citizenship Week:
Each year, Common Sense Media hosts a week long series on Digital Citizenship.  This years'digital citizenship week focuses on having discussions with students to get them started on the right foot in the digital world.
I encourage you to check out the Digital Citizenship Week 2015 resources for teachers and parents. Have some discussions with your students and send the link home to parents.  Some students will not have these discussions with their parents and it is up to us to prepare them not only for the online world, but for their future.

If you have never been on the Common Sense Media website, I encourage you to check it out. It has excellent resources for students, parents, and educators.  They have curriculum for all grade levels, movie reviews, video game reviews, and much more.  The best part is that its completely free.  Check it out!
Additionally, Zach Snow (@ZachSnow) is working on a Digital Parenting Course via Common Sense Media (@commonsense) for our parents to access. Be sure to share these resources with our parents in your class newsletters, emails, social media, conferences, and other conversations you have with the home:
RCISD is offering our 1st Digital Parenting Academy starting in November for Royse City parents. Interested? Apply here: http://bit.ly/dpa1516
New District Website Rollout - Monday, November 23 - Our district will be rolling out a new website for our parents, student, and community. Be sure to promote the new website your parents via newsletters, emails, weekly communications, social media, and remind accounts.
