    Important Reminders

    Energy Management
Just a reminder about keeping the classroom doors closed and locked through the school day. Martha and I will be working with maintenance teams to report on specific AC issues in the building throughout the week. Please help us by following their suggestions with closing of the door so your situation will be reported in a timely fashion.

    Absences
Be sure to enter all requests for absences into Aesop for approval. Hourly employees, all overtime must be approved by the principal in advance. If you'll going to be out or late, please enter your absence and then call Mr. Jacobs.

    NEW Information

    First Week is DONE
Congratulations on a very successful 1st week of school! You all are training, modeling, and teaching the students your expectations for the school year and it shows. Also I'm loving the Social Media pictures of you with your students this last week. Great job sharing our story with the RCISD community and the whole world. I've had a few principal friends text me this week asking me what you'll have been doing with your kids this week. (Yes the rest of the world is paying attention to Scott Elementary). Please continue and keep up the excellent work.

    MAP Training
Susan Lay will be on campus Thursday, September 1 @ 3:30pm to help our campus understand the expectations for MAP training for Scott Elementary. Apryl McElroy and others have been working to schedule our these assessments for our campus during the week of September 12 (for most of the campus).

Reminder, please have the online training completed this week. There are 3 videos for you all to view. If you are helping in any way with MAP testing, these videos are for you. You can access the website with this link: https://destinationpd.nwea.org/

    T-TESS & Appraisal Update
We are continuing to update the TTESS & Appraisal information. The plan to get you this information ASAP. In the meantime, be thinking about your goal(s) for the school year. We will be scheduling Goal Setting conferences between the dates of September 19-29.

    Procedures & Routines
Because it's the second week of school, please continue to teach/train your student the expectations for your ALL common areas and your classroom.

    Morning Duty
    1. Ensure you are parking in the staff parking lot to help the traffic in the front of the building.
    2. Please ensure you are arriving to your post on time during the morning duty @ 7:14am.
    3. Front door folks... please assist with opening car doors, greeting parents and visitors, and helping with the direction of traffic. This expectation continues throughout the school year (rain or shine).
    4. Gym/Cafe folks... Monitor students as they enter the area. Ensure they are lining up correctly with their classes. Be sure to check visitors for ID badges from the office. If someone does NOT have a badge, please escort them back to the office to get their badge. BEST safety practices include walking the individual back to the office NOT simply stating they need to return to the office and walk away.

    Lunch Reminders
    1. Make sure you remind students to not save seats, or skip seats.
    2. Remind the lunchbox kids to gather straws, napkins and spoons when they walk by the cafe lines. They are wanting to get up to get these items as soon as they sit down.
    3. Please review cafe behavior expectations with your classes. Not getting up without raising their hand, not going to visit other classrooms, walking, lining up with a zero, cleaning up their spot, etc.

    WOW Wednesday
Save the date for Wednesday, September 7 ELAR folks! Angela Homan will be sharing "Source Boxes/Stephanie Harvey "Digging Deeper into Reading" in the RCISD Board from 3:45-4:45pm. This is a great opportunity to get some credit hours for the RCISD PD Plan.

    Blog Post to Share
I saw this on Twitter recently... it's a Blog Post written by a fellow administrator. I would encourage each of you to read the post. It's a great uplifting piece if you at any time felt unsure about yourself this last week (which would apply to ALL of us). Please read it and let me know you thoughts.
